Dinner for Louise is an exhibition by artists Christine Overvad Hansen and Lea Guldditte Hestelund.
Placed on a burgundy carpet a vast table fills the room. The shape of the table points to that of a classic dining table, however distorted in its adaption to the surrounding architecture. Various objects are placed on the table. These objects echo familiar shapes, but their functionality and recognizability seem to have suffered an undefinable displacement. The height of the table becomes a performative gesture, and it almost invites you to take place in the rather odd scenario.
Playing with the domestic setting of the dining room artists Christine Overvad Hansen and Lea Guldditte Hestelund raise questions of gender and values concerning feminine conventions both historically and in contemporary society. In Dinner for Louise the artists create a situation, which we all inhabit on a daily basis. They transform it into a scene for contemplation and investigation, and through this setting they create a connection between the body and the interior.
