It is with great pleasure that we present Gether Contemporary's 10th anniversary exhibition 'X' to celebrate the gallery's fantastic journey over the past 10 years, where it has grown and expanded in collaboration with some fantastic artists who have contributed with visionary and unique exhibitions pushing the boundaries of what art can do in a gallery space. We have realized a large number of projects, public commissions, and exhibitions and we have enjoyed our close collaboration with Danish and international museums and foundations, critics, collectors, and friends of the gallery.

The exhibition 'X' will feature selected works by Lu Yang (CN), Gioele Amaro (IT), Sif Itona Westerberg (DK), Asger Dybvad Larsen (DK), Amalie Jakobsen (DK), Jay Gard (DE), Rune Bosse (DK), Rhoda Ting & Mikkel Bojesen (AUS/DK), Jochen Mühlenbrink (DE), and Uwe Henneken (DE).

The exhibition will present new works alongside some of the artists' strongest works across time, allowing us to take a look back and unfold the 10-year-long fantastic journey, we have had together.

At the same time, the gallery's 10th anniversary exhibition 'X' will mark the gallery's last exhibition in the Meatpacking District. In the new year, we will open a new chapter in the history of the gallery moving away from the conventional gallery space and towards a more open format with exhibitions at alternating venues both in Denmark and internationally.

We can't wait to celebrate Gether Contemporary's 10th anniversary with you and embark upon this new journey together!

LU YANG

Lu Yang (b. 1984, China) graduated from The New Media Art department at China Academy of Art. With a fascination of the human body, neurology and control, Lu Yang's works provide a bridge between scientific technology and aesthetics drawn from the hypermediated nature of the contemporary East Asian culture industry. From this concoction, the artist brings to life hybrid creatures that transcend identity concepts of gender, sex and nationality to better understand what it means to be human in the 21st century. Yang has been represented at numerous international exhibitions and triennials/biennials including UCCA Beijing (CH), Center Pompidou (FR),Fondation Louis Vuitton (FR), ICA London (UK), Mori Art Museum (JP), Rubin Museum of Art (US), Carnegie Museum of Art (US), Musée d’art Contemporain Lyon (FR), Neue Nationalgalerie (DE) and Momentum Berlin (DE). Yang also represented China at the Venice Biennial in 2015 with the work 'Digital Gods'.

GIOELE AMARO

Gioele Amaro (b. 1986, Italy) is a trained architect and has worked with the renowned architect Jean Nouvel. The premise of Gioele Amaro's art work is that both digital and physical images are constantly changing and dependent on our gaze. By combining, transforming, and blurring the boundaries between traditional media and new technology, Amaro initiates a dialogue between traditional paintings, photography, and drawings and new technology. Gioele Amaro has participated in major international exhibitions at, among others, Almine Rech (UK; CN; FR & BE), Reinhard Hauff (DE), Balice Hertling (FR), Galerie Forsblom (FI), HdM Gallery (SG & CN) and Galerie Untilthen (FR) in addition to collaborations with Fondazione Prada (IT), NMNM Monaco National Museum (MC), MOMA PS1 (US), Sotheby's (FR), and Maison Valentino (FR & CN).

He has exhibited nationally and internationally at various institutions such as Galerie Rolando Anselmi (DE) & (IT), Geukens & de Vil Gallery (BE), Pablo’s Birthday (US), False Front (US), Art Sonje Center (KR), L21 (ES), Nordic Contemporary (FR), Fabbrica Orobia (IT), Arroniz Gallery (MX), Ernesto Esposito Collection (IT), Galeria Boavista (P), Viborg Kunsthal (DK), and Rod Barton (UK).

Nature is always the focal point of Rune Bosse's artistic work whether working with big scale museum installations or smaller framed works. Hence, when Rune Bosse gently studies trees, roots, plants, sprouting grains, and withered leaves, it is an attempt to understand the very basic mechanisms of nature and see man in the light of this. Bosse's previous solo exhibitions include Overgaden (DK), HEART Museum (DK), and GL Strand (DK) among others. He has participated in group exhibitions at Arken Museum of Modern Art (DK), Hamburger Bahnhof (DE), Neue National Galerie (DE), Den Frie (DK), SMK Fridays (DK), Kunsthal Charlottenborg (DK), Tønder Kunstmuseum (DK), KØS (DK), AROS Triennial (DK), Den Hirschprunske Samling (DK), Fåborg Kunstmuseum (DK), Kunsten Aalborg (DK), and Vitamin Creative Space (CN).
